After installing utorrent I went onto the forums that my preferred torrenting site uses and found a preference guide that is preferred to this site. I followed the guide and changed the preferences on utorrent and I understood everything I was changing besides the disk caching and I think that that was causing me most of my issues. The site I use is a private user invite site, not a kickass
